Who among mountain lovers wouldn’t recognize this Himalayan gem? It is located in the heart of the Khumbu region, home to the Sherpa people, near Everest. Beneath the mountain lies the famous Tengboche (Tyangboche) Monastery. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, the expedition begins with completing formalities, purchasing any missing gear, and taking a flight to the Phaplu. From there, we will embark on an acclimatization trek to Makalu Barun National Park, and undertake an acclimatization ascent of Mera Peak. Up to this point, the itinerary is identical to the Mera Peak trek. After a short rest, we will move to Ama Dablam Base Camp. Here, our climbing efforts will begin, and we will, of course, attempt to reach the summit of this magnificent mountain. From the top, there are phenomenal views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Kangchenjunga, and many other spectacular peaks of the Khumbu region. Climbing Ama Dablam is not among the easiest challenges. The route will be secured with fixed ropes, but significant climbing skills will still be required. Some sections are very steep and at high altitudes. However, the rock has relatively good cohesion, and the upper sections end in snowfields. Accommodation and meals in Ama Dablam Base Camp will be in a nearby lodge (teahouse), so we will not need a tented base camp. With acclimatization from Lobuche East, we should be able to attempt the summit in a single "push." If the first attempt is unsuccessful, we will have time for a second try. The South West Ridge route on Ama Dablam is one of the most aesthetic climbing routes in the Himalayas. We will climb via two high camps, carrying our own tents at least to Camp 1 (C1). Due to the minimal available space at Camp 2, we will attempt to rent an existing free-standing tent. This expedition is not intended for beginner mountaineers but for experienced and skilled climbers with high-altitude experience and strong movement skills in exposed mountain terrain. It also requires excellent physical and mental resilience. For more information, please contact us. After the expedition, there is an option to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying a safari in Chitwan National Park.
